The Fam
The community for the whole family — practitioners on Discord and WhatsApp, in the same servers and group chats you are. Free, and the fastest way to find someone who has already had the conversation you are about to have.
Meet the Fam →Who we are
hybrid.church exists for one reason: to help physical churches develop their digital EDGE and empower ordinary people to do ministry where the world already lives.
Where this comes from
Not a partnership, not an affiliation — the same work, with a different job. theChurch.digital is the hub and the 501(c)(3): a global movement of digital missionaries, a library of writing going back years, a podcast, and a community that has been arguing about this since before it was fashionable.
hybrid.church is the arm that walks into a specific building. theChurch.digital rallies the movement and gives the thinking away; this site takes it into your staff meeting and helps one church put it to work.

Meet the Fam →Years of writing on digital ministry, free and ungated. The blog on this site is the church-leadership slice of it; everything is published there first.
The whole library →Digital missionaries doing this work globally — planting, gathering, and reaching people in feeds, servers and group chats. missionary.digital is their home.
Go to the hub →It is also why everything published here is free. The guides, the framework, the objections — that is the nonprofit doing what a nonprofit does. Consulting and training are the paid work, and they are how the rest stays free.
The difference
Every training and every consult runs through four edges — Evangelism, Discipleship, Generosity, and Empowerment. It is the difference between dabbling in digital and developing a genuine ministry advantage, and it is the reason this site can tell you which single thing to do this quarter instead of handing you a list of twelve.
Who you'd actually be working with
Jeff is on church staff, not in a sales role — full-time at one church in Miami and part-time at a second, running the exact pipeline this site describes. That is the only reason it is on this site. Everything here has to survive a Thursday at a real church before it gets recommended to yours.
He also leads theChurch.digital, a nonprofit movement of digital missionaries doing this work globally, and co-authored Sharing Jesus Online with Dr. John Harris — the book behind the BLESS practices on this site.
“You can learn from two of the best as they share their successes and failures in Sharing Jesus Online.”
Jeff takes the first call himself. The work after it is his and the theChurch.digital team's — which is where the sixty-plus years above actually lives, and why an engagement is not limited to one person's calendar.
What we believe
Digital isn't about getting more people to watch. It's about sending more people to go.
A polished stream that empowers no one loses to a scrappy church full of digital missionaries.
Reach is meaningless if it doesn't become discipleship. We measure fruit, not followers.
The job of leadership is to release ministry, not hoard it. We hand the work to the people.
For the pastor
You're not behind because you haven't figured out digital ministry yet. You're a few right moves away from a church that ministers without you in the room. That's what we're here for.
Questions
A digital ministry consultancy for physical churches, and a ministry of theChurch.digital. It exists to help a church that already has a building put digital to work as ministry rather than broadcast — using the EDGE framework: Evangelism, Discipleship, Generosity, Empowerment.
Jeff Reed leads it and takes the first call. He is on church staff full-time in Miami and part-time at a second church, running the same pipeline this site describes, and he co-authored Sharing Jesus Online with Dr. John Harris. Engagements are run with the theChurch.digital team behind him.
Same family, different job. theChurch.digital is the hub — the community, the library, the movement, and the 501(c)(3). hybrid.church is the arm that walks into a specific building and helps that church put it to work.
It is a ministry of theChurch.digital, which is the 501(c)(3) and carries the giving. Consulting and training are paid work; everything published on this site — the guides, the framework, the objections — is free and always will be.
Because the useful thing to say about church digital ministry is usually the uncomfortable one: a livestream is not a strategy, reach is not discipleship, and the person carrying your digital ministry is probably a volunteer who will eventually leave. A consultancy that only tells you what you want to hear is not worth hiring.
Start with the framework, or just reach out and tell us where your church is.
